Straight from the source....Stitchcat

Hey there, this is lifelesslyndsey, and I'm here to introduce you to

She recently posted her very first story on fanfic, Betrayal.
Betrayal caught my eye instantly, a tale of Alistair and his woe's.  Her story isn't far in yet, but the story and concept are so fresh and unique, it's worth reading and begging for updates.

Stitchcats Alistair is gritty, rough around the edges, and perhaps not all sane in the head, but she writes insanity with perfection.  He's so blatantly unaware of his idiosyncrasies, only focusing on his obsession, that it's almost as if you're reading two stories at once, the story being told in his eyes, and whats going on all around him.

Without further ado,

Q. What brought you to the fandom? To fanfiction in general?
A. As far as the fandom, my RL friend @leenie_c made me watch Twilight with her. I thought it was a perfect movie for hormonal tweens but beyond that - not much. She lent me the books and I was hooked. The writing is terrible, the plot holes are so wide I could drive a truck through them, but Stephenie Meyer absolutely nailed what it felt like for me at 17 and falling in love for the first time. Always hated Jacob though.

For fanfic, I read a comment on Letters to Rob ages ago about Rpattz reading it. I had no idea what they were talking about so I googled it. The first 50 results all came up as recommendations for Wide Awake by AngstGoddess003 so I decided to try it. There was no going back - I had no idea such talented people were writing fanfiction that in so many ways is superior to the original, and as I read more and more (and became completely addicted) I discovered a massive love of Jasper, then Peter, via IdreamofEddy. The rest is history!

Q. Betrayal is your first story! What inspired you to write an Alistair/Carlisle?

A.I haven't written creatively for many years, my mojo got lost somewhere between moving around two continents, RL and children. I've been thinking about it for a while and decided to write something small with a little-known character, so that if it was awful and I got no support I could run and hide without too much humiliation! Alistair intrigues me just because all we know of him is that he is living in England, he is dark-haired, he is brooding and misanthropic, and most of all he is a coward. I thought that rather than write a Byronic hero I would explore his misogyny and cowardice as I hadn't seen anyone else do it. The Carlisle aspect came to me as I was pondering what exactly made Alistair the way he was. The idea that he was in an unrequited love/hate affair with Carlisle made sense at the time. And what do you know - you and I had the idea to write him the same night at the same time! Must be fate.

((Lyndsey says: It was fate, we literally tweeted about it within seconds of each other))

Q. What inspired to parallel  your story with that of Jack the Ripper? Very creative, I might add....

A.Alistair hates women. The most famous serial killer in British history is Jack the Ripper and he is generally regarded to have been at best sexually perverse, at worst incapable for whatever reason. He is a perfect device for an exploration of Alistair's character and motivations. I also know quite a lot about JtR as I helped transcribe newspaper reports from the 1880s for a website dedicated to Jack and his crimes, on behalf of an online friend who has since passed away.

Q.What sort of things should we expect from you, with your story Betrayal? Anything you care to share? Tease us, please us, please!

A.I was going to leave it as a one shot to be honest, but there are so many places I could take it. I'm a history buff and research everything I write about, so in terms of the story I'm going to delve into the Ripper, then perhaps his role as inspiration for Dorian Gray - oh yes, Alistair has been a busy man . . . ..

Q. Are you working on anything else? Got any other stories in the works, ideas rolling around, rampaging plot bunnies distracting you from work, perhaps?

A. I have two Bella/Jasper stories I have had mapped out for a while. One AH and one AU, but I won't be writing those until I'm comfortable with my writing style, and sure that I can do them justice. I've always had a vivid imagination and can see them play perfectly in my head, like a movie, but getting that on paper is much harder. I will write them eventually, but feedback from this story is important to me to know if I have what it takes (shameless quest for reviews).

6. Tell us something about you? What makes you tick, Stitchcat?

A.You know, I'm only just discovering what makes me tick. I've spent a while being a wife, a mother and moving every 2-3 years for my husband's job. I seem to have spent my 30s being what I was expected to be, now I'm rediscovering myself - how corny is that. I like reading, I like writing and my mojo is definitely back. Now if only I could find my Jasper there's be no stopping me ;-)

Alright! That was Stitchcat, and you should totally check out her story Betrayal.
